We'll be getting up bright and early on June 16th with a long journey ahead of us. Grenoble, France to Denver, Colorado. That's a flight distance of over 8000 km. Or should we start thinking in miles? More than 5000 miles!
And there is an 8-hour time difference. We say that Denver is 8 hours behind Grenoble or Grenoble is 8 hours ______________ Denver. We'll leave Grenoble at 6:15 in the morning and we are scheduled to arrive in Denver at 7:14 in the evening. What time will that in fact be for us? We will be traveling for 21 hours, counting stopovers.
A long day to get here, Colorado USA:
Jane

Not too much information today. But there is vocabulary and cultural differences to point out.--get up bright and early = get up at the break of day = get up at the crack of dawn
-- journey, trip, travel = three words that are difficult.
Look here and take the quiz.
https://www.espressoenglish.net/difference-between-travel-trip-and-journey/
-- over = "more than" in this context
--Did you find the opposite of "behind" for time differences? It's NOT "in front of". Ask your teacher...or ask Jane.
-- stopovers = http://www.wordreference.com/enfr/stopover
--to get = In this sentence, get means "to arrive." So many meanings for this short but difficult word!
---We'll look at miles/kilometers and expressing the hour of day later. For now, just take notice of how Americans express distance and time.
