Day 54 (D-7) Jenny Lake / The National Museum of Wildlife Art

Jenny Lake is located in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming.

Jenny Lake is considered to be a major focal point in Grand Teton National Park, with many hiking trails, scenic boat rides, and quick access to the major climbing routes onto the tallest peaks of the Teton Range.

After such a busy 10 days of traveling and sightseeing, this will be a nice place to take a rest.
We'll be having lunch on June 25th at Jenny Lake, followed by a pleasant boat ride on the lake. I had thought about having us go down the Snake River, but that could be a bit too sporty for some of us.

From Jenny Lake we'll go to spend the night in Jackson and visit The National Museum of Wildlife Art the next morning.
The National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson turned 30 years old in May of 2017. To celebrate, there are two new exhibits from the museum's permanent collection, both taking a look at  conservation. Since its opening in 1987, the museum has moved to a new location and grown its permanent collection to include pieces by Picasso, Georgia O'Keefe and Andy Warhol, and one of the exhibits opening for the anniversary is Warhol's Endangered Wildlife portfolio.  Ecologically-focused art dealers requested this series originally.  Warhol had been commissioned to "do a set of ten prints in which endangered species became super stars," said the museum's Director of Programs and Events, Amy Goicoechea. She said the anniversary is a chance to remind people how important the relationship between humanity and wildlife really is.  The other exhibit, 'Exploring Wildlife Art" is a collection of nature-focused work featuring famous Canadian naturalist painter Robert Batemen. Goicoechea added that the anniversary is about more than enjoying artwork, "but can also inspire and remind us to take action, to conserve habitat, to think more clearly and deeply about the wildlife we share this place with."

After being so close to nature, crossing prairies and mountains where wildlife abounds, what a nice way to bring this trip to a close.

My best,
Jane
