Day 32 (D-29) Absaroka County / Sheriff Walt Longmire / writer Craig Johnson

To the north of Buffalo is the town of Sheridan, and near Sheridan is Ucross, a small town of 25 people.  Many of my students know and have met someone from Ucross:  the author Craig Johnson.  As of May 2017, he has written 12 novels, 2 novellas and a collection of short stories with the main character Walt Longmire who is the sheriff of Absaroka County, Wyoming, a fictional county created from the towns of Sheridan and Buffalo.  There is also now a television series, followed by many Walt Longmire fans.
We were lucky to meet Craig Johnson in the Spring of 2016 when he came to Grenoble for the annual Printemps du Livre (Book Festival). He spent an afternoon with us at the Maison de Tourisme answering our many questions.  Many of my students were eager to read one (or several, like Michèle G.) of his books.  All of my students discovered his short story Old Indian Trick.

Would you like to know more about Craig Johnson/Walt Longmire? Here's another gift for you: http://www.lexpress.fr/culture/livre/craig-johnson-il-etait-une-fois-dans-l-ouest_1787525.html

And here's still another gift:  You can listen to Craig talk about one of his books. https://www.babelio.com/auteur/Craig-Johnson/94039
You can make him speak more slowly for you. The video is in the middle of the article.

BONUS:  Not a cowboy song today, but old TV Western series I remember. These lawmen did their job at a time when the West was very young.... quite different from 21st century Sheriff Walt Longmire's job as the defender of law and order in Wyoming.
Here are three TV series from the 1950s/1960s :

Gunsmoke  PLEASE you MUST watch this one---there is someone you know who speaks VERY slowly. Gunsmoke was on television from 1955 to 1975.
